Today is Ash Wednesday and Noah and I decided to brave the potluck and church service even though it meant missing his bath and going to bed much later than usual. I was very impressed with Noah. Even though he was very distracted and had a million people saying hello to him, he managed to eat quite a bit of his dinner (we tried peas for the first time tonight) and not get too much on himself or his stroller. One new thing I am dealing with right now is Noah wants to help feed himself. But, he doesn't understand what he's doing yet, so we end up getting as much food ON him as IN him. :) My mom suggested smocking him which I think we will try tomorrow night.
I had to help during the service, so I wasn't able to sit with Noah during most of the service. He did really well though sitting with my friend Robyn. I was surprised how little he fussed considering how obviously tired he was.
As you can see from the pictures we both got ashes put on our foreheads. Almost as soon as we got into the car for the ride home, Noah was out like a light. He's such a sweet little trooper. I am really proud of him. Depending on how he sleeps through the night tonight will determine if he comes with me to the rest of the Lenten services or if I get him a babysitter. Wouldn't it be awesome if, because he got to bed late tonight, he slept in tomorrow morning? That's probably wishful thinking...
