Meeting all the Elberts and Briggs

Probably the best benefit of our trip, after seeing Katie marry Rich, was how Noah got to meet my entire family. Before this trip he had only met his grandparents and my siblings. Now, he had the opportunity to meet so many wonderful relatives and spend some QT being cuddled by everyone! It was so neat to watch everyone love Noah, chat with him, and get to know him a little bit. I was so impressed with how well he adapted to being held by so many new people in such a short period of time. After just a tiny bit of shyness the first morning, Noah was all smiles and warmth for everyone. While I wasn't able to get pictures of every single family member holding Noah, I think you will see I didn't do too badly. Above Noah enjoyed our first morning's breakfast with the bride-to-be, his Grammie and Grandpa, and for the first time, his great grandfather, Bud.
This is one of my favorite pictures from the entire weekend. I love the light as Uncle Andrew spends time chatting with Noah.Aunt Katie, (Almost) Uncle Rich, and Bud catch up with Noah at a luncheon where Katie's family was able to meet Rich's family for the first time. It was so fun to meet all of the Enos's!Playing with Uncle Andrew's hat. Such silly boys!Noah took to my cousin Jessica very quickly. She had a great way with him and they were a natural fit! Do you see this little flirt with the modeling pose? He kills me! :)My Grandmother's first time meeting the first great grandson in the family. It was a very special moment.Grandpa is already being a bad influence on Noah. Who gave him that beer anyway? My Uncle Steve getting in on the game. He is working on Noah's fist pounding here.My Aunt Merrilee and Noah sharing secrets at the beach. My cousin Matthew holding Noah.My Aunt Nancy saying hello for the first time.Noah completely tuckered out on Grammie's lap at Aunt Katie's Bridal Brunch. My cousin Stephanie holding Noah while Jessica and Uncle Andrew trade some laughs.Uncle Dan holds his nephew and Godson moments before the wedding. Don't they look handsome together?

Noah's First Flight

Noah's first flight happened last Wednesday, March 18 as the family traveled to St. Simons Island, GA to celebrate my sister, Katie's, wedding to her fiance' Rich. Not a family to do things the easy way, we decided to take the first flight out from John Wayne Airport, at 6:45am. Surprisingly, Noah stayed awake from the time we left the house at 4:30am until part way into the flight and he was in a good mood the whole time! We arrived in Atlanta to change planes and had time to grab a little lunch for everyone. Noah happily played with his toys while Tim and I had a little break. It was such a benefit to be able to take our own stroller everywhere. Both Noah and I are used to it and no one got tired out carrying him through the airport. We arrived in Jacksonville at 5pm EST with no hassle at all! Noah was an angel throughout both of our flights. He slept a little and spent the rest of the time playing with his toys and parents. My friend Jen was right, bringing a few new toys to distract Noah was a perfect idea! It was really nice to have Tim's help. Noah was so good I could have done the flight alone, but I so appreciated having his help. He kept me sane and Noah smiling and never turned down holding Noah whenever I needed a break. If possible, the flight back home was even better than the flight to the wedding. We took the 6pm flight out of Jacksonville and Noah slept through both flights. The second flight was even better than the first. The flight attendant moved the third person in our row so we could have all three seats. When Noah fell asleep on this flight, we were able to let Noah sleep in the seat between us.

All in all, the flights were all excellent and Noah was the best little flyer ever. We weren't able to get Noah a little wings pin, apparently the airlines don't do that anymore, but he certainly earned his wings on this flight!

Food Update

To date Noah has been doing really well trying new foods. Since the last food update we have added applesauce, peas, broccoli, yellow beets, carrots, white grape juice, and chicken. I mentiones the juice in the sippy cup article. I think he's not quite sure about the juice. But, it could just be that he doesn't quite have the hang of the sippy cup.

We tried chicken for the first time last night at dinner and Noah DOESN'T LIKE chicken. :) I don't blame him. That stuff smells awful. It's the first time I've seen him try to spit out a food I offered. But, I covered bites of it in banana today at lunch and he managed to eat a good portion of the chicken. I'm hopeful I can ease him into the meats and he will like them as much as any other food he has eaten. Here's hoping! :)

Laughter

Today Noah was playing with toys while I packed his clothes. At one point I looked up at him and he thought playing peek-a-boo was the funniest thing ever! He was laughing so hard I just had to film him!

More Cute Pictures

Too many fun pictures! Here is another collage of pictures of Noah from the past two weeks.

Getting Ready for the Big Trip

Katie and Rich's wedding is only a week away and we are quickly approaching Noah's first flight. As it is the first time we have taken Noah away from home overnight, I have been planning and re-planning for a while now. And, in an action completely out of character for me, I have started packing several days in advance of the trip. Ask anyone who knows me, I am notorious for beginning to pack only a few hours before a flight.

I am proud to announce I already have items in the suitcase and the diaperbag even though we have four days before we fly. Here are some pictures showing the things I have been thinking through and preparing already. First, Noah's wedding outfit is complete and it fits. Thank you consignment shops! Second, Tim's matching outfit has been purchased. With Katie's colors focusing on navy, we will be a very cute family with the boys in matching blue shirts that will coordinate perfectly with the dress I'm wearing. Some of the things I am still figuring out are what I will wear during all of the non-wedding activities and which cute outfits to bring for Noah. He has so many to choose from! Below is the outfit I think he will travel in. It's a little big for him still, but it's very soft and not to warm and most importantly, it has connected feet. I am deteremined he will not pull his socks off and lose them in the airport!Hopefully the packing will continue to go well and we will fit everything in our two suitcases easily. John Wayne Airport, here we come!

Sleepy Eating

As Noah gets bigger, dinner time gets a little longer because he wants to eat more and more. Especially bananas. I think Noah could eat bananas until he grows a monkey tail. :) All that time spent eating though, can wear out a little boy. Here is a video of Noah eating bananas a few days ago and falling asleep at the same time. I think you will enjoy it as much as I did! Oh, and yes, he does talk like that throughout every meal. :)

Another New Friend

On Saturday, Noah and I hosted a few of my girlfriends from my bible study for brunch. It was so fun to get together with Liz, Kathryn, and Megan for some good food and fellowship. One of the best things about the morning was Megan brought her 10 month old daughter, Jennifer! Megan and I were both children's leaders for BSF together while we were pregnant and this was my first opportunity to meet Jennifer. What a beautiful and fun little girl! Noah and Jennifer got along very well, but Jennifer is definitely older than he is. She was able to run around the room and crawl all over the furniture. I think Noah was a little jealous! :)

Growing Up

Noah is getting so big! It's a little hard to believe he will be seven months old next weekend. But he has had some big growing up milestones over the past two weeks. Here you can see Noah sitting in a shopping cart for the first time during one of our many trips to Target. He really enjoys being able to see everything and everyone in the store, but see me as well.He has also grown taller and now needs to wear bigger clothes. I swapped out his 3-6 month clothes for his 6-9 month clothes last week. It's so fun to have all new outfits in which to dress him! This outfit is the most adorable little green t-shirt with a monkey on it and matching blue jean overalls with a little monkey on them. They are definitely big biy pants though, no sign of elastic cuffs here! Supposedly he has some new outfits waiting for him at my mom's house too when we visit next week for Katie's wedding. Hooray for adorable clothes!Another thing we have been trying for about a week now is having Noah eat his meals in his high chair. So far this plan is working really well, especially for me since I don't have to sit on the floor to feed him anymore. Love that! The only challenge is I have not put the tray on the chair, and I think since he is higher up, his throwing radius will be much wider. Therefore, I haven't tried having him feed himself very much.
I have offered Noah two things to feed himself in the high chair so far. This is a picture of Noah eating some crackers from his feeder. The feeder helps reduce my stress level quite a bit while still allowing him to try new foods he might choke on otherwise.

Here is Noah's most recent triumph. Yesterday I gave him a sippy cup for the first time and he knew exactly what to do with it! I was so surprised to hand it to him and see him put the spout right into his mouth. Now, in this picture, he does have the cup upside down, but that was on the third or fourth try. I don't think he was actually able to get any of the water out of thr cup yesterday. They are designed so liquid only comes out if sucked on (hooray no spills!) but I was confident Noah would figure out the cup pretty quickly.Today Noah was successful with his cup! I bought some juice and a cup with a softer spout and Noah drank out of the cup all by himself. I was so excited to see him learn new things. The one thing that is a challenge for me is with each new behavior he learns, he is a little less of a baby and I feel a tiny bit sad for that loss. He is growing up to be such an amazing, wonderful little boy though, he makes growing up totally worth it!

Update: this is the cup he can actually drink from:

Hanging Out with the Boys

This morning we went to visit my friend Carrie and her three boys. Her boys love playing with Noah and it's really fun to see Noah watch the older boys and want to imitate them. Here are some pictures and a fun video from our visit today. I loved how Noah and Jude were actually playing together!

Thanks, Carrie, for a wonderful day. We loved spending time with you, Lucas, Isaac, and Jude!
