9 Month Dr. Appt.

On June 1 Noah had his 9 month doctor visit. We expected to have the normal measuring and weighing, Noah was 18.2 pounds and 26 inches long. He grew two inches in 6 weeks! What we didn't expect was the finger pricking for the doctor to test Noah's iron levels.
Noah was a very big boy and almost didn't cry about the finger pricking. What was most interesting about the experience was his band-aid. The nurse put a Snoopy band-aid on Noah's finger and he was fascinated by it. He kept showing the band-aid to Tim and me and wanting us to kiss it for him. It was so cute and hilarious! This picture is exactly what he would do, holding up the band-aid for each of is to see and kiss.

Swimming in the Big Boy Pool

Noah went into the "big boy pool" for the first time in St. Simons Island. It was so fun to see him enjoy the water and play. Noah loved splashing, swimming, and watching all the other kids playing in the water. We went down the slide many times and Noah never seemed to tire of being in the water.
We spent hours in the pool each day and only left because we had to for dinner or a nap. Noah never seemed to want to leave. I'm looking forward to seeing him enjoy the pool at Tim's parents' house later this month!

First Time in the Ocean

While visiting my parents in Georgia, we were certain to visit the beach. You may be surprised since we live on the coast of California that Noah had never been in the ocean. While we have visited the Pacific Ocean with Noah, he had never actually been in the water. So, he had his first try in the waters of the Atlantic.

He loved the water! It was so fun to see his face light up as the tide would come in over his feet. I think when the weather gets a little warmer here in CA, we will definitely have to make more trips to the beach so he can experience the Pacific Ocean's waters as well. I know the water won't be as lovely and warm though as it was in the Atlantic. It was 70 degrees on our feet! Lovely!

Sitting Up By Myself

Look what Noah learned how to do at his Grammie and Grandpa's house!

Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day! On this auspicious day the family attended "Taps at Twilight" at the beach on St. Simons Island. It was neat to see the area by the beach where Aunt Katie and Uncle Rich were married. Everything looked a lot different as all the construction was done and a new park had been created.
We took a picnic supper and joined some of my parents' friends from church to listen to the community band play patriotic pieces of music and see the raising of the colors.

As usual, Noah was quite a popular attraction at the event. Not only did he have fun bonding with his Grandpa and seeing the ant farm Grandpa was attracting with bits of food on the ground,
he got to meet Grammie's other friends from church. He's such a flirt!
Of course, there is always a moment for a Mommy and Noah picture. I think Noah's favorite part of the evening was when he got to eat both watermelon and angel food cake at the end of the picnic. What a treat! As you can see from these pictures he was in hog heaven! :) What could be better than eating all of your favorite foods while sitting outside and enjoying the festivities? Well, possibly coming home and knocking down a lot of block towers before bed!

Visiting Grammie and Grandpa

Yesterday Noah and I made the long trip from Orange County, CA to Glynn County, GA. Noah was a wonderful little traveler again. I am so lucky to have such a good little boy with whom to travel. He charmed everyone around us and was very patient in all the airports. He especially liked the Ben and Jerry's treat we had in Atlanta. :)
Today was our first day with my folks and we had a great time. After church and a two hour nap, Noah really got down and dirty with the playtime. My mom pulled out an entire box of toys from my childhood for Noah to play with and you can see he really enjoyed them.
It was a little odd to see so many toys I played with after 25+ years, but I'm really glad my mom saved them. It's a neat feeling to share my childhood with my son. It makes me realize how ridiculously complicated children's toys are now. I much prefer the basic, chewable, washable toys. Bonus points if they are made out of natural materials.

The only noticeable side effect of the trip so far is Noah's sleep schedule. He is operating as though he is on CA time, which is not surprising. He's such a good little boy!

Happy Nine Month Birthday!

Today is Noah's nine month birthday. We had a great day complete with three naps, new library books, and snacks from the farmer's market. While I didn't catch any pictures of Noah today, I have some cute ones from this week of Noah playing with his reflection in the bedroom mirror. I love seeing him learning and trying to figure out new things. His big accomplishment of the week so far was standing up holding onto something other than Mommy or Daddy. Here he is holding onto the laundry basket. It won't be long now before he is into everything!
